Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly eager to sell Nigerian striker Victor Boniface in the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United among the clubs linked with a move for the 24-year-old. According to Sport Bild, Leverkusen are seeking a base transfer fee of €50 million (approximately N83.7 billion) plus bonuses for Boniface.
The Nigerian international has been struggling to regain his starting spot in the team, following an injury that paved the way for Patrik Schick to take his place in the starting lineup. Boniface's frustration has been evident, with the striker getting into an on-field dispute with teammate Emiliano BuendÃa.
Leverkusen's decision to offload Boniface is reportedly driven by concerns over his behavior and discipline. The club is said to be unhappy with his open display of frustration, which has raised concerns about his commitment to the team.
Newcastle United are among the clubs linked with a move for Boniface, who has also been courted by Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in the past. The Nigerian striker has been named in Nigeria's final squad for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, despite his limited playing opportunities in recent months.
