A closed-door meeting between the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has sparked intense speculation about potential political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Naija News.
The meeting, which took place at Aregbesola's residence in Lagos, has been shrouded in secrecy, with details of the discussions remaining unclear. However, sources within the Osun State chapter of the NNPP have hinted that the meeting centered on national politics and the possibility of a new political alliance.
Aregbesola's recent exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, citing victimization and marginalization by the party's leadership, has fueled rumors about his potential defection to another political platform. The meeting with Kwankwaso, a key figure in the NNPP, has only added to the speculation.
Tosin Odeyemi, the Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the NNPP, confirmed the meeting and shared photos of Kwankwaso and Aregbesola. When asked to comment on the development, Odeyemi stated that the meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering national development.
"The NNPP is committed to making Nigeria great again, and we will leave no stone unturned in achieving this goal," Odeyemi said. While the details of the meeting remain unclear, one thing is certain - the 2027 elections are shaping up to be a highly contested and unpredictable affair.
